Dog Days wins in Italy!

‘Dog Days of Summer’ won BEST FIRST FEATURE at the 2008 Sabaoth Film Festival in Milan, Italy last week. The film was highlighted in 2 different national Italian newspapers as one of their favorite pics of the festival.

DVD release date

October 29th, 2008

The tentative release date for the DVD is scheduled on April 21, 2009. We will get confirmation on this.

Dog Days of Summer nominated for ‘Best First Feature’

We received notice today that DOG DAYS OF SUMMER has been nominated for ‘Best First Feature’ at the Sabaoth International Film Festival in Milan, Italy. The film will screen at the festival the evening of November 13, 2008 at 9:20pm. Director Mark Freiburger and cinematographer Rob Givens will be on hand for the audience Q&A after the screening.

Dog Days of Summer lands major DVD distribution deal!

Dog Days Film, LLC recently signed the North American DVD rights over to Anchor Bay Entertainment. Anchor Bay has distributed a wide variety of thrilling films over recent years which include the “Evil Dead” films and “Halloween” films… they currently distribute the DVDs for Overture Films’ titles (”Mad Money”, “The Visitor”, “Righteous Kill”).

We are pleased that Anchor Bay Entertainment will be releasing our film to the public on DVD all over North America! No release date is currently set, however, it will be posted here when Anchor Bay sets the date…

‘Dog Days of Summer’ has been selected to screen in the feature competition section of the Sabaoth International Film Festival in Milan, Italy this November. Mark Freiburger will be in attendance for the audience Q&A sessions at the festival.

Freiburger tapped to write “The Trial”

‘Dog Days of Summer’ director Mark Freiburger has been hired to co-write the screenplay adaptation of “The Trial”, based on the best selling novel by Robert Whitlow. The film will go into production in early 2009 and will be directed by Gary Wheeler. In June of 2008, 20th Century Fox released “The List” starring Malcolm McDowell, Hilarie Burton & Will Patton, which was also directed by Wheeler and based on the Robert Whitlow novel of the same name.

Dog Days of Summer is “Dove Approved” for families

‘Dog Days of Summer’ has officially been approved by the Dove Foundation for Ages 12+. The DVD will include the special Dove Seal of Approval for families. We are honored to carry the seal on our Film.

Dog Days of Summer film sales update

We recently inked deals to air Dog Days of Summer on Canadian television and Latin American television. Now we are in the process of creating the necessary elements needed for subtitles and insurance for those countries. No news on an American DVD release date yet as we continue to move through the theatrical phase, however, we will work it out through our distributor so the DVD will be available for purchase through this site as well.

Dog Days to run for 1 week in Charlotte, NC!

Dog Days of Summer was the highest grossing film to ever screen at the historic Taylor Theater in Edenton, North Carolina. After a successful 2-week run, the film is now moving onto Charlotte, NC where it will screen at Charlotte’s premier art house venue… the Regal Cinemas’ Manor Theatre from Friday May 16th - Thursday May 22nd. Successful opening weekend!

Dog Days opened on April 18th, 2008 in Edenton, North Carolina as the #22 highest grossing film per screen out of 122 films in theatrical release for the weekend. The Film broke box office records in the town of Edenton and continues to run through thursday May 1st! (Showtimes are 2pm, 4pm, 7pm & 9pm during weekends. 7pm & 9pm weeknights)

Due to the success of the opening weekend, Regal Cinemas picked up Dog Days for a week’s run at the Manor Theater in Charlotte, NC (Date TBD).
